Corrosion Management Equipment
Solutions by Engineers, for Engineers.
At ECS, our fire protection, chemical, mechanical, metallurgical and electrical engineers bring a multidisciplinary approach to one problem: fire sprinkler system corrosion. We don’t believe in a cookie-cutter approach because we know each project is unique. Whether we’re solving issues with older systems or planning prevention in a new one, we bring broad experience and focused expertise to every problem we face.

The ECS Advantage
ECS engineers are experts in nitrogen generation systems and work one-on-one with our clients. If you’re working with ECS, you’re not just working with someone who understands how nitrogen inerting works in our industry—you’re working with someone who invented it.

Fire Code Requirements for Corrosion Management Equipment
FM Global Property Loss Prevention Data Sheet 2-1 (October 2016)
Recommends the use of an FM Approved nitrogen generator in all dry and preaction fire sprinkler systems for pressure maintenance. Galvanized steel or black steel may be used with nitrogen.
US Department of Defense UFC 3-600-1 (November 2016)
Galvanized steel piping is not permitted. Nitrogen generator must be used for pressure maintenance in lieu of air.
US General Services Administration PBS P-100 Facilities Standards for the Public Buildings Service (April 2017)
Requires the use of nitrogen generators on all dry pipe systems; preaction systems are not permitted. Galvanized steel piping is not permitted.
The 2016 edition of NFPA 13 requires a venting device on all wet pipe fire sprinkler systems.
